BIGGER, BETTER, LONGER RIDE!
On Sunday June 6th, 2010, the second annual National Memorial Ride will be held in
Ottawa. This year we are co-0rdinating with the Ride for Dads ride on Saturday,
a Bikers Bash on Staturday night (bikers and non-bikers welcome) and on Sunday morning
a motorcycle ride will begin at the Navan Fairgrounds and proceed to the Canadian
Military Cemetery, which is co-located with the Beechwood Cemetery in downtown Ottawa.
Following a ceremony to pay homage to those Canadian soldiers who have paid the
ultimate sacrifice for our nation, the ride will return to the Navan Fairgrounds
.
The National Memorial Ride is a federally incorporated non-profit corporation that
is dedicated to providing financial support to veterans’ homes in the Dominion of
Canada, and to support organizations that help wounded Canadian military members
re-integrate into Canadian society. The National Memorial Ride is a well planned
event that is coordinated with the Department of National Defence, Veteran Affairs
Canada, The City of Ottawa, the Navan Fairgrounds Committee, the Beechwood Cemetery
Foundation and various military veteran organizations. Last year the National Memorial
Ride had 328 motorcycles register for this event. The general public is welcome
to participate at both the Canadian Military Cemetery ceremony and at the Navan Fairgrounds
thereafter.
